Transportation to/from and Parking options at U of MD Campus

The Inn & Conference Center hotel is located on the U of MD campus, approximately 0.5 miles from the conference building (Adele H. Stamp Student Union Building). The Courtyard Greenbelt hotel is located outside of the U of MD campus, approximately 3-3.5 miles from the conference building. The Comfort Inn & Suites hotel is located outside of the U of MD campus, approximately 1 mile from the conference building.

If you stay at the Inn & Conference Center, you may consider walking to the conference building, but if you stay at the Courtyard Greenbelt or at the Comfort Inn & Suites, you will need transportation. We discuss below transportation options by shuttle bus, by car and by metrobus. We also discuss Metrorail transportation from Washington DC to campus.

• By Conference Shuttle Bus: Shuttle service from hotels to Meeting site

Complimentary shuttle service will be provided from the Comfort Inn & Suites College Park and the Courtyard Greenbelt to the Adele H. Stamp Student Union Building. The UMUC Inn & Conference Center is within walking distance to the Student Union.

There are five public parking areas, shown in green below. The closest to Stamp Student Union is the Union Lane Garage. Hours of operation are 7 am – 2 am, 7 days a week. Rates are $3 per hour or $15 per day (reduced to $5 per day on weekends).

Parking instructions:

1. Park in any numbered space in a pay-station area.
2. Note your space number, which will be either on the ground or on the wall.
3. Locate a pay station.
4. Press [OK] to start.
5. Enter your space number.
6. Enter the amount of time you will pay for.
7. Insert payment (credit card or exact change in coins or bills of $10 or less).
8. Take receipt

• By Metrobus: Metrobus from off-campus hotels to U of MD campus

Both the Courtyard Greenbelt and Comfort Inn & Suites Hotels are served by the C2 metrobus direct to Stamp Union Building. The one-way fare is $1.25. Walking distances to bus stops are 0.14 mi (Courtyard Greenbelt) and 0.09 mi (Comfort Inn & Suites).

On Sunday there is service to Comfort Inn but not to Courtyard.

• By Rail: Metrorail from Washington, DC, to U of MD campus

  The Stamp Student Union Building is 1.5 miles from the College Park station of the DC area metro (subway) green line. See http://www.wmata.com.

1. Take the Red Line train (toward Glenmont); transfer at the Fort Totten station to the Green Line train (toward Greenbelt); get off at the College Park/U of MD station.
2. Or take the Green Line train (toward Greenbelt); get off at the College Park/U of MD station.
3. The University's Shuttle-UM buses pick up university-bound passengers on the EAST side of the metrorail station. Shuttle-UM service between the College Park Station (Green line) and the center of campus is very frequent - every 8 minutes peak hours most weekdays - is offered year-round, and is free and open to everyone - no fee, no ID required. 4. Get off the Shuttle-UM at Adele H. Stamp Student Union.
